Hello once again! In this second lesson of today we will take a look at the G#/Ab pentatonic blues guitar scale. This actually is our second to last lesson in this series.

What is the root note here? Yes you got that right, it’s G#/Ab. And the blue note is D.

If you follow the illustration below, you will begin playing the scale on the 4th fret of the E6 string and work through one set of the scale ending on the 1st fret of the G3 string.

I know that was easy. But it sounded really cool, didn’t it? So for now, let’s move on to a more challenging and interesting pattern.

In the figure given below, notice that you begin playing as high as the 11th fret of the A5 string. But this time, you go through two sets of the scale. The last note is located on the 16th fret of the E1 string.

This pattern is also a great way to exercise your left hand fingers concentrating on their flexibility and strength. So it won’t be difficult for you to play guitar at a higher speed later on. More than that, this is also a good way to really get familiar with different notes on the fretboard.
